The Officers and Members of the North Shenango Fire Department extend their heartfelt condolences to the Families and Friends of Lt. Charles "Chip" McCarthy & Firefighter Jonathan Croom, of the Buffalo Fire Department. Lt. McCarthy and Firefighter Croom arrived on the scene to numerous reports of a person trapped in the basement of a 2 story ordinary construction building with fire showing. The two men initiated a rapid primary search of the building when the first floor gave way, sending the two men into the basement. Crews on the fireground worked as hard as possible to rescue their brothers but the two firefighters succumbed to their injuries prior to being pulled from the building. Lt. Charles "Chip" McCarthy (Age 45) & Firefighter Jonathan Croom (Age 34) were removed from the building shortly before 10am, in flag draped stokes baskets.
The North Shenango Fire Department would like to thank them for their service and will remember their sacrifice. God Bless Brothers.
